MRCA Training

A new opportunity exists for those wishing to learn their trade and gain a qualification in this brand new apprenticeship for Hard metals including Copper, Zinc and Stainless Steel. The first training course is to kick off on 28th June 2010 at the LSA training facility in East Peckham, Kent. This training apprenticeship is designed for the hard metal roofing sector and encompasses thirty days of ‘off the job’ training during a two year period with on site assessment in the second year.

The course is closely monitored by the Metal Roofing Contractors Association. Companies who are registered with CITB ConstructionSkills and are in Scope will be eligible to receive grants for apprenticeship registration, attendance and achievement up to a maximum of £5,700.00 in line with the current Apprenticeship Framework.

This course is designed to give the apprentice thorough knowledge of the Hard metal Industry and has the support of the manufacturers of all products.

Graham Cashin Chairman of the National Metal Training Group said;

‘This is an exciting opportunity for people of all ages who want to learn an interesting trade and create for themselves a special skill to produce attractive innovative architecture and contribute to historical restoration projects which depend on the ‘tinsmith’ trade to maintain a high level of expertise in this growing sector of the industry.’
